Obituary of Flynn, Maretta Pearl
Maretta Pearl Flynn (nee Elgar)
Peacefully at her home in Brampton with family by her side on February 27, 2011. Predeceased by her beloved husband Keith Flynn, parents Percy and Pearl Elgar, siblings John Elgar, Nettie Kaye(Elgar) and Emerson Elgar. Maretta will be sadly missed by her sister Ruth Allen(Elgar) of Brantford and many nieces, nephews and friends. Maretta lived a full and interesting life. She excelled in her position as executive assistant with several large corporations including CGE, Douglas Aircraft and Orenda Engines Ltd., producer of the famous Avro Arrow. She was known to stand her ground with some “hatchet men” bosses to the applause of the others in the office. Maretta travelled the world, especially loving Hawaii and Ireland, and enjoyed nothing better than a good debate on topical issues. She won numerous awards for her beautiful gardens, and painstakingly researched and documented the Elgar family history. Maretta was a proud member of the Brampton Horticultural Society and #442 David Hornell V.C. Wing Royal Canadian Air Force Association Weston.
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow
But remember me in every tomorrow
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles
I’ve only gone to rest a little while,
Although my leaving causes pain and grief
My going has given me relief
So dry your eyes and remember me
Not as I am now, but as I used to be.
Because, I will remember you all
And look on with a smile
Understand, in your hearts,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while
As long as I have the love of each of you,
I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.
