gwen and bill july 2018 staff imagesBill Shields and Gwen Hogg (nee Fallis)

Gwen was born and raised in Millbrook and is the daughter of Trevor and Carole Fallis. Growing up on the Fallis Line, Gwen is no stranger to Millbrook and the surrounding area.  After raising her three children here and spending sometime working at the local Foodland, Gwen now is also part owner and a major part of the funeral home operations, often behind the scenes.

Bill was born and raised in Toronto. His career started in 1985 after becoming a Licensed Funeral Director and has since worked in Toronto, Trenton/Campbellford and Lindsay before realising his 30+ year dream at the Fallis &Shields Funeral Home. Bill also has three children that are in various stages in their lives. He is a proud member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 402 in Millbrook.

Gwen and Bill are both very happy and proud to be here in Millbrook.

Fern Armstrong -  Assistant

Fern wears many hats here at the funeral home but her main role is our in house florist.  A local girl with 22 + years florist experience that we treasure very much, she is the best there is.  Fern is the first to help in every aspect around the building.  It was a pleasure and honour to have her looking after the Fern's Flowers part of the funeral home for many years.  Unfortunately we had to close the flower shop on Monday, August 17, 2020.  Fern will be assisting at the funeral home on a part time basis moving forward.

Alex was a lifetime member of the community. He and his wife Margaret lived on their farm in Cavan which was a love for both of them.  Alex brought tremendous value to our firm with his friendly approach and caring attitude. He was active on local Council for many years and several Committiees and Boards. Alex was a Mason (Corintian Lodge 101), a Kawartha Shrine Club Member, a Legion Member, among many other groups and associations. Alex died peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.  He will be deeply missed by many and very much by his staff family here at Fallis & Shields.  Rest In Peace Alex
