COLLINS;  Maureen Teresa Rita ~ It is with great sadness that the family of Maureen Collins announces her passing on Friday, March 19, 2021 in her 66th year.  She died peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care.  Beloved daughter of her late parents, Lawrence (Lornie) Collins (August 07, 2002) and Marcella (née Healey) Collins (May 14, 2012).  Predeceased by her niece Megan Marie Collins (March 24, 1986).  Loving sister of Terry and his wife Joanne, Larry and his wife Janice, Rosemary (Rosie) and her husband John (Jay) Shaughnessy, all of Peterborough.  Forever remembered by her nieces and nephews, Erin (James), Jennifer, Matthew (Kayla), Carly (Jordan), Brendan, Aedan, Ciara (Mikie), Liam, and nine great nieces and nephews.  Fondly remembered by many cousins.  Dearest Maureen always had the soul of a maverick and really did have a beautiful free spirit that she quite often expressed gently.  Though, at times, she lived a life of adversity, Maureen expressed her bliss and approached eternity with dignity and a sense of poetic justice. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Webster and the Palliative Care team at PRHC for the wonderful care they provided to Maureen.

I had the pleasure of knowing Maureen during our academic years including university. We both began our careers in Toronto as well. I love this photo of Maureen as it brings back memories. Maureen was an engaging conversationalist, inquisitive and passionate. My deepest condolences to her family & friends who mourn her passing. May she find tranquility and the answers she was seeking in this next life. With loving thoughts & prayers. Patricia (O’Keefe) Stewart

Dear Terry, Larry and Rosie, My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones during this time of sadness. Maureen and I became great pals soon after you moved to King George Street. Millions of Monopoly games, millions of “I Love Lucy” and “Get Smart” shows, visits with Grandma Healey which almost always included an afternoon hockey game on tv, backyard “penny fairs”, long walks to Hamilton pool, Maureen holds a special place in my heart and I wish her peace.

Dear Maureen's Family. I was blessed to talk to Maureen a few months ago. We met in high school and shared many fun times; we laughed alot. Our lives led us on different paths but I hope she knew how much she was loved. I will always remember her quiet strength, her sense of humour and exceptional wit, her easy to talk to charm and her kind and caring ways. Maureen - you are truly a beautiful soul. Until we meet again. With Love, Patricia (Patti) Donnelly "Think where man's glory most begins and ends, and say my glory was I had such friends." William Yeats
